Kyoto Butoh Experience offers a unique opportunity to explore and experience the art of Butoh in Kyoto, a Japanese dance form born in Japan. We are currently the only organization in the world providing this experience on a weekly basis.

Why We Need Your Support
Butoh is a dance form that was born in Japan in the late 1950s.
Today, Butoh has spread all over the world. However, its strong visual image is often emphasized, while its philosophy, core principles, and physical approach are sometimes overlooked.
Kyoto Butoh Experience offers international visitors a rare opportunity to directly experience the philosophy and physical approach of Butoh through workshops in Kyoto.
To make this possible, we rely on individual support to sustain and develop our activities.
Your support allows us to continue providing this space for deep encounter, build a foundation for new forms of Butoh to emerge in different times and places, and offer non-practitioners a meaningful encounter with the depth of Butoh and Japanese culture.
