This 120-minute course is designed for those who want a deeper and more immersive Butoh experience. In this course, you will experience an extended Butoh demonstration by Daiji Meguro, followed by a more detailed warm-up, in-depth basic exercises, and a deeper exploration of his choreography method. The workshop is conducted in a small group setting, allowing for focused engagement and deeper creative exploration. Price: JPY 9,000 per person Schedule: Sunday 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM Monday 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM Location: Nature Studio 28-19 Misasagi Iketsutsumi-cho, Yamashina-ku, Kyoto, Japan Note: Courses with 3+ participants will be held at Urban Studio. Contents 1. Self-introduction Brief introductions by the instructor and participants. 2. Butoh demonstration A 10-minute demonstration by Daiji Meguro. 3. Warm-up A more detailed Butoh warm-up to awaken and prepare the body. 4. Basic exercises Exercises to coordinate different parts of the body in greater depth, expanding movement with greater awareness and control. 5. Early Butoh choreography method An exploration of early Butoh methods, where movement is created from imagery inspired by words. 6. Daiji Meguro's choreography method Participants develop more specific and personal movement based on their own experiences, sensitivity, and imagination, rather than relying on complex techniques. No prior experience is necessary. Important notes ・Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement. ・Changing rooms are available, but showers are not. ・Activities are conducted barefoot; no shoes are required. ・The workshop is conducted in English. Participants are welcome to use translation apps if needed. ・Photos and videos may be taken for use on Kyoto Butoh Experience’s website and social media. If you do not want your photo or video to be posted, please let us know before the workshop. ・Recommended for participants aged 7 and above. ・Due to the small group setting, availability is limited. ・Wi-Fi is not available. ・Payment should be made in advance by credit card.
