Experiencing Butoh in Kyoto – Impressions of Kate and Cole, Two Inspiring Artists

At Kyoto Butoh Experience, we recently had the pleasure of welcoming two inspiring artists who came to explore Butoh as a form of artistic expression.

Kate, a seasoned dancer, brought with her a rich background in movement and creativity. Her ability to adapt and visualize images through her body was truly impressive. Despite her high level of experience, she came to Kyoto to deepen her artistic journey through Butoh. Her humility and strong desire for personal growth moved us deeply.

Cole, a musician in a noise band, approached Butoh with raw intensity. His dance carried an element of beautiful madness—an unfiltered, emotional energy that resonated with the spirit of avant-garde art. Watching him move, we could imagine how powerful his live music performances must be. We hope to witness his art on stage someday.
